Availability

See our Events Calendar to find the trip and dates that best suits your schedule. Don't see a date that works? Contact us and we will create a program for you based on your schedule. Early booking is best because the courses fill up quickly. Same day registration is sometimes possible so contact us for availability.

Climbing Partners

We maintain a teacher to student ratio of 1:6 and the maximum group size is limited. This means a better climbing experience for you. Most of our programs are appropriate for ages 8 and older; however, an adult must accompany students under the age of 10. One adult may accompany more than one climber under the age of 10. If the adult chaperone is not climbing he/she will not pay.

Climbing Equipment

We provide all of the technical climbing equipment: harness, helmet and hardware. Climbing shoes are optional and available for rent locally. You provide your own snacks and other gear for the day. To see a list of recommended clothing and equipment check here.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

If you should have to cancel your trip the following policy applies:

  • Cancellation four weeks before the course date= full refund.
  • Cancellation four weeks or less=50% fee applied.
  • No show on date of course= loss of full payment.
  • Rain Days or Cancelled Courses will be rescheduled at a date mutually agreed upon by all parties.
  • Essential Skills Outdoor School LLC and Bill Humphrey reserve the right to change or cancel any course or activity.

Transportation

Each participant is responsible for his/her own transportation to/from the climbing site and for any parking or entrance fees. Car-pooling is encouraged.

Emergency Information

Our staff are certified wilderness first responders and experienced in wilderness first aid, CPR, rock climbing and waterfront safety. However, please be aware that advanced medical care is normally over an hour away from the course sites and that rescue and medical services are sometimes difficult to obtain. All medical concerns, old injuries and medications should be discussed with the guide prior to the course date.
